AmaZulu FC coach Arthur Zwane says Nkosikhona Radebe’s inclusion in Bafana Bafana’s preliminary squad is a deserved reward for his consistent performances, but believes the 25-year-old defender must continue improving.
Bafana coach Pitso Mosimane named a 38-man provisional squad for the back-to-back 2027 AFCON qualifiers against Kenya, with Radebe selected among the right-backs alongside Thabang Matuludi and Thapelo Morena.
Zwane welcomed the recognition for Radebe, who has established himself as one of AmaZulu’s consistent performers, but said the call-up should serve as motivation rather than an indication that the player has reached his full potential.
“For him to obviously get the call up, it’s a plus,” said Zwane.
“It’s a very good motivation for the player. And actually, he’s been one of our consistent players. But I still believe he can give us more.
“Because he’s extremely talented. He needs to work harder because once you are noticed by the national team selectors, that means you have gone now closer to the level where everyone can see what you can offer the game.”
Zwane added that he was demanding more from Radebe because he believes the defender has the ability to make an even greater contribution to AmaZulu.
“But he needs to do better every time. And trust me, I am pushing him. I am not nursing his feelings because I know what he can give the club.”
The AmaZulu coach also pointed to Radebe’s age as an advantage, saying the defender still has time to develop while competing with some of the country’s leading players for a place in the national team.
“What he can do for himself, there’s many other best players out there. He’s got the age on his side.
“When he gets the call up right now, he’ll compete with some of the best players in the country that are in the national team.”
Despite his emphasis on continued hard work, Zwane said AmaZulu would support Radebe as he begins his involvement with Bafana Bafana and would help him manage the next stage of his career.
“So, the ball is in his court, he’s got our support. And we’ll always guide him to the right path.”
