Racist behavior in football stadiums is becoming an increasingly worrying issue. Senegalese star Sadio Mané spoke out against the chants and shouts targeting Black players during a broadcast on Radio Futurs Media (RFM).
“It’s deplorable! Racism has no place in football. I think it’s time it stopped. We are all equal,” Mané declared.
Kalidou Koulibaly was recently targeted by such abuse during Napoli’s match against AS Roma, forcing referee Gianluca Rocchi to temporarily halt the game. Mario Balotelli has also suffered similar attacks, enduring racist chants while playing against Hellas Verona.
Despite the growing prevalence of these incidents, decisive action to eliminate racism in football remains limited. Sadio Mané’s call highlights the urgent need to address this persistent problem that continues to affect both football and society.
