After a disappointing performance in the Africa Cup of Nations (CAN), Morocco faced another setback with a 3-1 loss to Tanzania during the 2014 World Cup qualifiers. Coach Rachid Taoussi, speaking to Kifach.com, initially criticized the players but later took responsibility for the outcome, expressing gratitude to the team for giving their best.
Taoussi acknowledged the team’s failure to score in the initial phase and credited Tanzania as a good team. He recognized the pressure exerted by Tanzania and noted that once they scored twice, his players lost concentration, leading to the eventual defeat.
Despite the disappointment, Taoussi emphasized his commitment to creating a new dynamic within the national team, focusing on principles like seriousness, discipline, and responsibility. He acknowledged the sacrifices required for success and stressed the importance of continuity with the current group, whether under his leadership or someone else’s.
However, tension persisted, and Moroccan Sports Minister Mohamed Ouzzine hinted at upcoming changes. On his official Facebook page, Ouzzine mentioned that the next general assembly of the Federation, scheduled for April, would mark “the beginning of a new era, with many changes to be expected.” This suggests potential adjustments and reforms in Moroccan football following the disappointing results.
