Rachid Ghezzal says goodbye to Olympique Lyon

Rachid Ghezzal has officially confirmed his departure from Olympique Lyonnais as his contract expires on 30 June.

The 34‑year‑old winger announced his exit on social media, describing an emotional season and thanking his teammates, staff, and supporters.

“It was a season full of incredible and difficult moments. Although I would have liked to help the team more on the pitch, I am very proud to have had the opportunity to wear this shirt again,” Ghezzal wrote. He also added: “Thank you all, players, staff, management, but above all you, the supporters, for your support throughout the season. The best is yet to come.”

On 6 September 2025, Ghezzal rejoined Lyon on a free transfer, signing a one‑year deal until 30 June 2026. That move marked his return to the club where he had come through the youth academy and made his professional breakthrough between 2012 and 2017.

During the 2025/26 campaign, Rachid Ghezzal made 12 appearances in all competitions, registering one assist, as he closed what he now calls a proud second spell with Les Gones.
