Rabbi Matondo: Sheffield United eye move for SK Brann winger
Rabbi Matondo, the Wales international winger currently at SK Brann, is being linked with a move to Championship side Sheffield United. The 25-year-old, who also holds DR Congo nationality, joined the Norwegian club earlier this year and is under contract until 31 December 2026.
Matondo has struggled for minutes in the early stages of the Eliteserien season, featuring in three league games without a start and playing only a small fraction of Brann’s available minutes. That limited involvement is understood to have alerted clubs looking for wide options, with Sheffield United among those exploring a potential deal. His current market valuation stands at around €900,000, a figure that would make him a relatively affordable target for a Championship squad rebuild.
The Liverpool-born left winger, who operates primarily on the left but favours his right foot, moved to Brann on a free transfer from Rangers on 31 March 2026 after a spell in Scotland that included a Scottish League Cup win in 2023-24. Before heading to Norway he also had a loan spell with Hannover 96, adding experience in German football to earlier stints in England and Belgium.
With Brann only a few months into Matondo’s contract, any agreement would likely require Sheffield United to negotiate a fee rather than wait for a free transfer scenario. For now, Matondo remains an SK Brann player preparing for the remainder of the Eliteserien campaign, with his future the subject of mounting speculation rather than any confirmed move.
