Rabah Madjer believes Al Ahly let a golden chance slip away in their Club World Cup opener against Inter Miami.
The Porto legend, speaking after the match, said the Egyptian giants could have secured victory if they had been more clinical in front of goal.
“Al Ahly performed well against the American team, but did not take advantage of the opportunities that were given to him, which cost him two precious points at the beginning of his career,” Madjer said in televised remarks.
Looking ahead, he warned that Al Ahly’s upcoming clash against Porto will be a tough test and urged them to take any chances that come their way.
“The expected confrontation between Al Ahly and Porto, at dawn next Tuesday, will be very difficult,” he said, adding that it’s crucial for the team to “exploit any opportunity available to him in front of the goal.”
On another topic, Madjer backed Mohamed Salah for the Ballon d’Or, saying the Liverpool star’s record-breaking season makes him a worthy winner.
