Qatar SC open talks to sign Franco-Congolese defender Presnel Kimpembe

France international of DR Congo descent Presnel Kimpembe has emerged as a top transfer target for Qatar Sports Club.

The 29-year-old appears not to be in the plans of Paris Saint Germain, having been omitted from the club’s Champions League squad for the upcoming campaign.

Kimpembe has been inconsistent for the French Ligue 1 giants in the past two season due to a lengthy injury lay-off. However, PSG are looking forward to offloading the defender.

Since making a return to football in 2025, the Frenchman has, however, failed to regularly feature for Les Parisiens.

He played just 76 minutes of football last season across five appearances, all of which came in the second half of the campaign. However, he has failed to stay fit, finding himself sidelined by multiple niggles across the back half of last season.

Kimpembe rejected an approach from AC Milan during the transfer window. Despite the closure of many transfer window, Qatar SC remains an option.

Per reports, Kimpembe is close to joining Qatar Sports Group. Talks are ongoing, and it is expected that they will give rise to an agreement before the closure of their transfer window on 16th September.
