Qarabag target Nigeria winger Taofeek Ismaheel after Gornik Zabrze return

Nigeria’s Taofeek Ismaheel, currently with Gornik Zabrze, has been linked with a move to Qarabag in Azerbaijan’s Premyer Liqa.

The 26-year-old left winger has a market value of €1.5m and remains under contract with the Polish club until 30 June 2027. The reported interest comes as Ismaheel continues his second season with Gornik after returning from a loan spell at Lech Poznan.

Ismaheel has made two Ekstraklasa appearances this season and has also featured in European qualifying, playing in two Europa League qualifying matches and one Champions League qualifier. He has not scored in those appearances.

He joined Gornik from French club Lorient in July 2024 for a reported €360,000. In September 2025, he moved to Lech Poznan on loan, helping the club win the Polish title before returning to Gornik at the end of June 2026.

Qarabag’s interest would represent a potential move from Poland’s top division to the Azerbaijani league for the Lagos-born winger, who has also played in Norway and Belgium during his career. The transfer link remains unconfirmed, with Ismaheel still registered as a Gornik Zabrze player and contracted through the end of the 2026-27 season.
