Pyramids forward Nadhir Bou Ali will miss Algeria’s squad for the September international break after suffering a hamstring tear.
The Algeria international was called up for new manager Ibrahim Hamdani’s first training camp in charge of the national team. However, Pyramids confirmed that Bou Ali sustained the injury during the club’s league match against El Gouna.
Pyramids’ head of medical staff, Mostafa El-Mouniry, said the forward had suffered a tear in his hamstring.
The Egyptian club has informed the Algerian Football Federation of the nature of the injury and the treatment and rehabilitation required. Bou Ali has consequently been withdrawn from the Algeria squad for the September camp.
The international break will begin on 21 September and run until 6 October.
El-Mouniry added that Bou Ali is currently following a rehabilitation programme and will continue with it during the international break. The aim is to have him fit for Pyramids’ first match after the break, against Al Qanah on 8 October in the League Cup.
Hamdani, the new Algeria manager, has already announced his squad for the international window.
The selection includes Al Ahly forward Monsef Bekrar and Mohamed Bachir Belloumi, who has impressed for Hull City. Granada goalkeeper Luca Zidane was not included.
