Pyramids’ Mahmoud Abdel Hafeez faces scan after hamstring strain

Pyramids forward Mahmoud Abdel Hafeez, known as “Zalaka”, will undergo medical scans after being substituted during his side’s Egyptian Premier League match against Eastern Company Enppi.

Zalaka was withdrawn in the 13th minute of the first half after feeling discomfort in his hamstring. Ahmed Atef, known as “Kota”, came on in his place.

Pyramids’ head of medical staff, Mostafa El-Mounيري, said the club would wait 48 hours before assessing the full extent of the injury.

“Zalaka felt a strain in his hamstring, so we preferred to take him off,” El-Mounيري said through Pyramids’ media centre. “He will undergo a scan after 48 hours to determine the nature of the injury.”

The match was goalless at half-time in the fifth round of the Egyptian Premier League.

The injury is Zalaka’s second since joining Pyramids. He previously missed three matches after suffering an injury, with his recovery taking 18 days.

Pyramids were second in the table on 13 points while the match remained level. Eastern Company Enppi were 15th with five points.
