Pyramids lose influential midfielder Walid El Karti for high-stake Champions League clash against FAR Rabat
Pyramids FC will travel to Morocco without the services of influential midfielder Walid El Karti, as the team prepares for the first leg of their CAF Champions League quarter-final clash against FAR Rabat.
As confirmed by Pyramids head of medical staff, Mustafa Al-Muniri, the highly-rated midfielder will miss the trip due to a hamstring tear. El Karti recently missed the sides’ recent 1-0 league victory over Al Ahly Bank due to similar injury setback.
“Walid El-Karti will miss Pyramids’ trip to Morocco because he is suffering from a hamstring tear, which is why he also missed the last match against Al-Ahly Bank.” He said.
Pyramids will face FAR Rabat at midnight on Saturday morning, and the delegation is scheduled to depart Cairo at 9 pm on Tuesday aboard a private plane. The squad wrapped up their final training session at the Air Defense Stadium on Tuesday before departure, aiming to fine-tune preparations for the crucial encounter.
Despite El Karti’s absence, Pyramids remain in strong form domestically. The 1-0 win over Al Ahly Bank lifted their points tally to 43, keeping them level with league leaders Zamalek and second in the standings ahead of their league match against Enppi on Wednesday.
Pyramids will be hoping their collective strength can offset the absence of their star midfielder as they aim to secure a positive result in Rabat and take a step closer to the semi-finals of Africa’s premier club competition.
