Kaizer Chiefs intensify pursuit of Congolese striker Fiston Mayele amid contract standoff

Egyptian club Pyramids has begun serious efforts to secure the future of their Congolese striker, Fiston Mayele, whose contract ends next June.

Since joining from Tanzania’s Young Africans in 2023, the 31-year-old Mayele has become a top scorer, known for his decisive goals and creative play. He’s currently scored 45 goals and provided 8 assists in 96 games for Pyramids, including a standout hat-trick that brought down Saudi Arabia’s Al-Ahli in Jeddah. This season, he’s already found the net six times in ten matches and contributed key goals in continental competition.

Recognizing Mayele’s impact, Pyramids management has offered him a two-year extension, hoping to fend off growing Saudi interest, especially from clubs like Al-Fateh and Al-Hazm. His reputation is rising not just in Egypt, but across Africa, after picking up top scorer honors in both the Confederation Cup and the African Champions League.

Mayele’s international standing is also on the rise, he has five goals in 28 caps for DR Congo, and he’s been called up for World Cup qualifiers. As Pyramids prepare for crucial continental matches and the upcoming CAF Super Cup, keeping Mayele is a top priority for their ambitions.
