Pyramids FC and Sagrada Esperança clash in CAF Champions League Group D opener

Pyramids FC has decided to rely on its young talents in the current edition of the Egypt Capital Cup, as the club juggles a busy and historic schedule.

The team opens its campaign against National Bank of Egypt on Tuesday at Al Salam Stadium in the first round of the group stage, only days before a major continental test.

Pyramids are preparing for the Intercontinental Cup semifinal on December 13, where they will face the winner of Flamengo vs Cruz Azul, so the board chose to protect the senior squad from overload. The club announced that it will play the Capital Cup with its U-19 team (born 2005), supported by several standout prospects from the U-17s (born 2007), giving academy players a rare platform to impress in a senior competition.

According to the club statement, head coach Krunoslav Jurčić made the decision after consultations with academy head Islam Shoukry and the club management. At the same time, the League Association confirmed Jurčić will be suspended for one match after his red card in the 2–2 draw with Petrojet, while player Ahmed Samy is also out after receiving his third yellow card, adding more weight to the choice of trusting the youth squad.
