Pyramids FC has fiercely criticized the Egyptian Premier League’s decision to reverse a three-point deduction against Al Ahly after their withdrawal from a summit clash with Zamalek on March 11.
The league’s top team, sitting at 43 points, called the move a clear case of favoritism, igniting fresh tension in an already dramatic season.
The Clubs Association Board, led by Ahmed Diab, overturned the penalty on Sunday, despite initially upholding a 0-3 loss for Al Ahly due to their demand for foreign referees.
Pyramids FC had stayed quiet until now but says it’s directly hurt by this shift, vowing to fight for its rights. “We chose to remain silent and merely observe,” the club stated Monday, “especially since the regulations were applied firmly.”
Yet, they blasted the league’s backtrack, saying, “Pyramids FC has now become an integral party to this crisis due to the direct harm it has suffered, which harms fair competition.”
They argue it mirrors a Zamalek case last year, accusing the league of inconsistent rule enforcement. Legal action, they warned, is coming.
