Pyramids FC assistant coach Mohamed Nagy Gedo has explained why the club opted not to sign Ibrahim Adel from UAE’s Al Jazira during the winter transfer window.
In a televised interview, Gedo confirmed that an agreement had been reached with Al Jazira, but negotiations with the player stalled over financial terms.
“Ibrahim Adel requested a release clause of around $3 million and wanted to pay it in instalments,” Gedo said.
“We were willing to meet all his financial demands, but we could not accept the instalment plan.”
Gedo suggested the decision reflected more than finances.
“It seemed that Adel was not fully committed to returning to Pyramids,” he added. “The club is moving in a positive direction even after his departure.”
He highlighted the team’s recent achievements as proof of that trajectory, noting the club’s success in securing both the African Super Cup and the Tri-Continental Cup, while continuing strong performances domestically.
“At Pyramids, the team always comes before any individual player,” Gedo concluded.
