Pyramids FC are taking no chances as they chase their first-ever CAF Champions League title.
After reaching the final, the club has officially asked for the Egyptian Cup final against Zamalek, set for 20 May, to be postponed.
Sporting director Hani Saeed confirmed that Pyramids have sent a formal request, wanting full focus ahead of their huge second leg against South African giants Mamelodi Sundowns.
Pyramids earned their spot in the final with a thrilling 3-2 win over Orlando Pirates in Cairo on Friday. Saeed admitted the match was tough, especially after defending champions Al Ahly were knocked out earlier by Sundowns.
Now, Pyramids have their eyes firmly set on lifting the trophy. Saeed made it clear that the team’s dream is to defeat Sundowns and make history.
Pyramids travel to South Africa for the first leg against Sundowns on 24 May, just four days after the original cup final date, making the postponement request even more urgent.
