Pyramids FC lead the way as Zamalek travel to Ghazl El Mahalla in Egyptian Premier League

The Egyptian Premier League returns for its fifth round on Monday, 14 September, with leaders Pyramids FC aiming to maintain their perfect start and Zamalek travelling to face Ghazl El Mahalla.

Round five will run until Wednesday, 16 September, before the league pauses for the international break. The competition is scheduled to resume after the break ends on 6 October.

Pyramids FC sit at the top of the table with 12 points from their opening four matches. They will visit Eastern Company/ENPPI on Wednesday evening, with the league leaders looking to extend their unbeaten run and preserve their 100% record.

Zamalek are second on goal difference after collecting 10 points. They have won their past three matches following a draw on the opening weekend, and will meet Ghazl El Mahalla in one of the final games of the round.

Al Ahly are also on 10 points but slipped to third after being held to a 1-1 draw by El Mokawloon in their previous match. It was the first time Al Ahly had dropped points this season.

Al Masry will host Al Ittihad on Tuesday, while a number of other sides will also be looking for important points as the table begins to take shape.

Smouha are the only team yet to score in the Egyptian Premier League this season. They are also among four clubs still without a victory after the opening four rounds, alongside El Gouna, Petroleum Assiut and Ghazl El Mahalla.

The pause following the fifth round will give the clubs time to regroup before domestic action resumes in October. For Pyramids FC, the immediate objective is to protect their position at the summit, while Al Ahly and Zamalek will try to close the gap before the international interval.
