Pyramids FC’s preseason plans have taken a slight hit after key midfielder Mahmoud Abdel-Hafiz Zalaqa picked up an injury during a friendly in Turkey.
The match against Turkish side Bandırma Spor ended in a 2-2 draw, but concern quickly shifted to Zalaqa after he left the pitch with discomfort. Following the game, the club moved swiftly to assess the extent of the setback.
Dr. Mostafa El-Meniri, head of the medical team, provided clarity through the club’s media center. “Mahmoud Zalaqa underwent an X-ray to determine the extent of his injury during the team’s training camp in Türkiye,” he said.
Al-Meniri confirmed that the player suffered a first-degree hamstring strain. He is now expected to spend one week in rehabilitation before returning to full training.
Zalaqa recently rejoined Pyramids FC following a loan spell at Ceramica Cleopatra. His return came after the departure of winger Ibrahim Adel, who sealed a move to UAE club Al Jazira.
The club remains hopeful Zalaqa’s recovery will be smooth as they gear up for the new campaign.
