Pyramids FC’s preparations for a vital run of games have taken a sharp hit as injuries and suspensions pile up just before their meeting with Al Ahly on August 30 in the Egyptian Premier League.
The club confirmed that winger Mostafa Fathi tore his medial hamstring muscle during training, ruling him out of action for weeks.
Dr. Mostafa El-Meniri, head of the medical staff, said Fathi will need time to recover and will not feature against Al Masry tomorrow. His absence also rules him out of the Al Ahly tie and most likely from the Egyptian national team’s September camp.
The news comes at a difficult time for coach Krunoslav Jurcic, who is already without Moroccan Walid El Karti and Burkina Faso’s Blati Toure through suspension, while Ramadan Sobhi and Abdel Rahman Gouda remain unfit.
Jurcic has named his squad for the Al Masry game, with key names like Fiston Mayele, Youssef Obama, and Ahmed El-Shenawy expected to shoulder responsibility as Pyramids look to cope with the setback.
