Pyramids FC confident Rulani Mokwena can deliver Egyptian Premier League title

Pyramids FC have expressed confidence in manager Rulani Mokwena and believe the South African can guide the club to the Egyptian Premier League title this season, according to former Al Ahly goalkeeper Ahmed Shobair.

Mokwena was appointed as Pyramids’ head coach in July and has overseen their pre-season preparations ahead of the new campaign.

The former Mamelodi Sundowns and Wydad Athletic Club manager has made an impressive start to his tenure, winning his first two league matches.

Pyramids opened their campaign with a convincing 3-0 victory over Ghazl El Mahalla before recording a 2-0 win against Abou Qir Fertilizers on matchday two.

Shobair says the club’s strong start has further strengthened their belief that they can challenge for the league title.

“Inside Pyramids, they feel that the league is theirs this year, and they have comfort and confidence in Mokwena,” Shobair said, according to El Balad.

Mokwena’s appointment underlines Pyramids’ ambition to compete for major honours both domestically and in continental competitions.

Pyramids finished second in the Egyptian Premier League last season, missing out on the title by just two points.

The club will now be hoping Mokwena can take them one step further and secure their first league championship this season.
