Pyramids FC has taken formal action against broadcaster Ihab Al-Koumi, host of the “Match” program on Sada Al-Balad channel, by submitting complaints to the Attorney General, the Supreme Council for Media Regulation, and the Egyptian Football Association’s Disciplinary Committee.
The club contends that Al-Koumi’s recent comments during his program were unacceptable and damaging.
Al-Koumi, a former member of the Egyptian Football Association, implied that there is a current bias favoring Pyramids FC in the league, especially following Al-Ahly’s withdrawal from a recent match. In response, Pyramids FC included a video of these remarks in their submissions, urging immediate investigations to safeguard the club’s reputation.
The club asserts that Al-Koumi disseminated false information harmful to Pyramids FC, leveling unfounded accusations that cannot be ignored. They emphasize the necessity of prompt legal action against anyone making such claims.
In reaction, the Supreme Council for Media Regulation issued a statement: “Based on the results of the General Administration of Monitoring, the complaint received from Pyramids Club, and the recommendations of the Committee for Control of Sports Media Performance, it was decided to summon the legal representative of the (Echo of the Country) satellite channel.” A hearing is scheduled for next Sunday to address these alleged violations of media standards.
