Pyramids FC beat Al Arabi Kuwait as Zico scores in third pre-season friendly

Pyramids FC continued their preparations for the new season with a 3-1 victory over Al Arabi Kuwait in their third friendly match of the summer, with Mustafa Abdel Raouf “Zico” among the scorers.

The match was played during Pyramids FC’s training camp in Turkey, where the Egyptian club are based in Erzurum until 9 August. The side are using the camp to prepare for the start of the domestic campaign and their upcoming involvement in the CAF Champions League.

Abdel Rahman Magdy put Pyramids FC ahead in the first half, although Al Arabi Kuwait restored parity before the interval to leave the teams level at 1-1.

Pyramids FC regained control after the break. Ahmed Atef “Kota” scored the team’s second goal before Zico completed the scoring, securing a 3-1 win for the Egyptian side.

Zico, Hafez and Lasheen were all part of the Egypt squad that reached the last 16 of the 2026 World Cup.

Pyramids FC began their Turkish camp with a narrow defeat by Iranian club Persepolis, losing 1-0. They responded in their second friendly by beating Turkish side Alanyaspor 2-0, with Mahmoud Zalaka and Ahmed Atef “Kota” scoring the goals.

The club have so far made one signing ahead of the new season, bringing in Eyad El-Askalany from Russian club Rostov.

Pyramids FC will compete in the Egyptian Premier League as well as the CAF Champions League during the campaign. They won the Egypt Cup last season and finished second in the league standings.

The draw for the new Egyptian Premier League season is scheduled to take place on Wednesday, while the CAF Champions League draw will be held on Thursday.

Pyramids FC’s victory over Al Arabi Kuwait was their second successive win of the pre-season, following the success against Alanyaspor. The result also provided another opportunity for the squad to build match fitness before the team’s training camp concludes in Erzurum on 9 August.

The club’s preparations are taking place against the backdrop of a season in which they will aim to challenge again domestically while also competing in Africa. Their Egypt Cup triumph last season represented the club’s major success, while their second-place league finish secured a strong position going into the new campaign.
