Pyramids FC back in the title fight with Zamalek win
Pyramids FC reignited their title push with a narrow but crucial 1-0 victory over Zamalek at Cairo Stadium on Tuesday in the sixth round of the Egyptian Premier League.
The win halted a poor run of two straight defeats and lifted Pyramids to 50 points—just two behind leaders Al Ahly—with only two games remaining. Ibrahim Adel scored the winner in the 21st minute, capitalizing on a costly error by Zamalek goalkeeper Mohamed Awwad, who misjudged a cross from El Shibi.
From the outset, Pyramids took charge. Salah Mosaddeq had a chance cleared off the line early, while Zamalek’s Benteke had to clear a dangerous cross. Marwan Hamdy and Mostafa Shalaby threatened before Adel struck.
Zamalek lost striker Nasser Mansi to injury, replaced by Seifeddine Jaziri. Despite changes and occasional threats, the White Knights failed to recover.
Pyramids pushed for a second with efforts from Adel, Mustafa Fathi, and Blatty Touré, but couldn’t add to their lead. Zamalek introduced fresh legs, including Ahmed Hamdy and Esho, yet never found a breakthrough.
