Pyramids coach Krunoslav Jurcic explains decision on Walid El Karti and Arab Cup

The coach of Egypt’s Pyramids club, Krunoslav Jurcic, emphasized the importance of the upcoming CAF Champions League match against Rivers United.

He expressed confidence in his squad, even though some key players will miss out due to injuries and others who returned late from international duties. Jurcic praised his team’s spirit, saying the true strength of Pyramids lies in their unity and focus, and insisted, “We play to win every game, at home or abroad.”

Jurcic addressed the rumours around player call-ups, stating that Pyramids would not release Walid El Karti or any players for local teams, including Morocco’s secondary squad in the Arab Cup, but only for senior national teams during the official international calendar. “We have informed all federations about our stance, respecting our players’ efforts and our busy schedule,” he explained.

Team captain and goalkeeper Ahmed El Shenawy added that every African club now takes Pyramids seriously after their achievements, noting that a winning start in the group phase boosts morale and sets the stage for another title run. El Shenawy mentioned, “Starting the competition at home is a big advantage, and we want to make the most of it.” He also reflected on missing out on the Best African Goalkeeper award, saying, “It motivates me to work even harder.”

The team is now focused and eager to begin their continental journey
