Pyramids coach criticizes referee’s performance following match against TP Mazembe
Krunoslav Jorčić, the head coach of Pyramids FC, has lambasted the poor officiating displayed by Ghanaian referee Daniel Laryea during the team’s match against TP Mazembe in the fifth round of the African Champions League group stage.
Jorčić emphasized that the Ghanaian referee unfairly disadvantaged Pyramids FC with his decisions, branding it as a disgrace to African football.
Addressing the press conference following the match against TP Mazembe in Lubumbashi, Congo, Jorčić asserted that Pyramids FC demonstrated resilience in the first half and dominated in every aspect of the game.
He highlighted two clear penalty incidents in favor of Mazembe that were overlooked by the referee, decisions which he believes could have altered the outcome of the match.
The coach clarified that his criticism extends beyond the result of the match, shedding light on the dismal state of African refereeing, which tarnishes the image of African football.
He accused the referee of directly influencing the game’s outcome by failing to award clear penalties, thereby favoring the home team.
Jorčić emphasized his satisfaction with the performance of his players throughout various phases of the match.
He urged them to quickly rise above the disappointment and focus on the future.
