Pyramids cautious as CAF Champions League group stage begins and announces Egyptian Super Cup squad

Pyramids FC’s technical staff, led by Croatian coach Krunoslav Jurcic, is approaching the CAF Champions League group stage with caution after the draw placed them alongside Morocco’s RS Berkane, Nigeria’s Rivers United, and Zambia’s Power Dynamos.

Assistant coach Moatasem Salem stated, “We are armed with caution to continue our journey to defend the continental title. There’s no easy group, every match requires huge effort to win and move forward.”

The club’s opening matches will be against Rivers United in Cairo on November 21 or 22, followed by an away clash with Power Dynamos. They will then travel to Morocco for a crucial fixture before returning to host Renaissance Berkane again in January.

Focus also shifts to the Egyptian Super Cup in the UAE, with the squad flying out tonight for preparations and a semifinal match against Zamalek.

The squad list includes goalkeepers Ahmed El-Shenawy, Sherif Ekramy, Mahmoud Gad, and Ziad Haitham. Among defenders are Mahmoud Marei, Ahmed Sami, Mohamed Shaibi, Ali Gabr, Tarek Alaa, Karim Hafez, and Mohamed Hamdy. Midfield features Abdelrahman Magdy, Mahnad Lashien, Walid El Karti, Ahmed Atef Qota, Ahmed Tawfik, Mahmoud Donga, Mahmoud Zalaka, Mostafa Ziko, Everton Da Silva, Blati Toure, Mostafa Fathi, and Mohamed Reda Bobo. The attack will be led by Fiston Mayele, Marwan Hamdy, Dodo El Gabas, and Yousef Obama.

Ramadan Sobhi and Osama Galal miss out due to injury and are in Germany for treatment. Burkinabe star Blati Toure’s fitness is uncertain after an injury in the last match. The African football body continues to enhance the tournament with expanded VAR usage and improved broadcasting, aiming for greater competitiveness and prestige every year
