Pyramids FC strengthens league title chase with win

Pyramids delivered a dramatic performance to secure a crucial 3-2 victory over Enppi in a pulsating Egyptian Premier League encounter on Friday, boosting their title ambitions in the 2025/2026 season.

The high-stakes clash, played at the Air Defense Stadium, formed part of the fifth round of the championship group, with both sides eager to strengthen their positions in the standings. In the end, it was Pyramids who held their nerve in a fiercely contested battle to claim all three points.

Enppi made a bright start and stunned their opponents early, taking the lead in the 10th minute through Aktai Abdullah. The forward capitalized on a well-delivered low cross from Ahmed Kalusha, finishing clinically to put his side ahead.

However, Pyramids responded swiftly. Just seven minutes later, Awda Al-Fakhoury restored parity, heading home from close range after a brilliant run and low delivery from Nasser Maher. The equalizer injected fresh energy into Pyramids’ play as they began to assert control.

Their pressure paid off in the 27th minute when Mostafa Zico gave Pyramids the lead. The attacker reacted sharply inside the penalty area, slotting the ball into the net to complete the turnaround.

Enppi refused to back down and found their way back into the game before halftime. Ali Mahmoud calmly converted a penalty in the 38th minute, leveling the score at 2-2 and setting up a tense finish to the first half.

But just as it seemed both sides would head into the break on equal terms, Zico struck again. In the second minute of first-half stoppage time, he latched onto a pass inside the box and finished confidently, restoring Pyramids’ advantage and ultimately proving to be the decisive goal.

The second half saw both teams push for more goals, but Pyramids managed the game effectively to protect their lead and secure a vital victory.

The win lifts Pyramids to 50 points, moving them into second place level on points with league leaders Zamalek, intensifying the race for the title. Meanwhile, Enppi remain sixth on 36 points, with their hopes of climbing higher taking a setback despite a spirited display.

With the title race heating up, Pyramids’ resilience and attacking firepower could prove pivotal as the season approaches its decisive stages
