Pule Mmodi awaits Kaizer Chiefs contract call
Pule Mmodi’s future at Kaizer Chiefs is edging towards a decisive moment, with the winger’s contract believed to be expiring on 30 June and no call made yet on his stay.
An insider close to the situation has indicated that Sporting Director Kaizer Motaung Jnr will have the final say once he receives input from the recruitment department and technical team this week.
“There are a few decisions which the team is taking, and Pule (Mmodi) is one of them. There are different things they are believed to be looking at that will determine whether they renew his contract. But at the moment, I can tell you that no decision has been made yet. Mmodi is waiting on Chiefs,” the insider told Soccer Laduma.
Mmodi, who hails from the Free State, joined Amakhosi in 2023 as a free agent after leaving Golden Arrows and parting ways with his then-agent.
Game time has been limited this season, but the 35-year-old still featured in 20 Betway Premiership matches, including the Soweto Derby against Orlando Pirates, where he scored his only goal of the campaign and added a single assist.
Chiefs now need to decide whether those contributions, his profile and the club’s broader plans justify a contract renewal or a parting of ways.
