PSV teenager Amir Bouhamdi poised for 2031 deal after European interest

Amir Bouhamdi is set to extend his PSV contract until the summer of 2031 after reportedly turning down approaches from Paris Saint-Germain, FC Barcelona and Juventus.

The 18-year-old winger is understood to have agreed to the proposed extension, despite having two years remaining on his existing contract with PSV. The club has not yet officially announced the new agreement.

Bouhamdi’s decision comes after a period in which several of Europe’s biggest clubs attempted to persuade him to leave Eindhoven. Paris Saint-Germain, FC Barcelona and Juventus were among those to show interest in the Moroccan forward, but he has opted to continue his development with PSV.

PSV regard Bouhamdi, who was born in Limburg and has Moroccan roots, as one of the most promising players to have emerged from the club’s De Herdgang academy. His progress has also been recognised by head coach Peter Bosz, who has given the teenager significant first-team involvement during the opening weeks of the season.

Bouhamdi started the Johan Cruyff Shield final, although PSV were beaten in the match. He was also involved in the opening Eredivisie fixture against Fortuna Sittard, coming on at half-time.

His growing role has placed him firmly in the first-team picture, although PSV plan to manage his development by moving him between the senior squad and Jong PSV over the coming months. The arrangement is expected to allow Bouhamdi to continue gaining experience at the highest level while also receiving regular playing time with the reserve side.

The proposed deal would secure PSV’s control of the player’s future through to the summer of 2031, provided the agreement is formally completed. For now, the club has yet to make the extension official.

Bouhamdi’s recent appearances have strengthened PSV’s belief that he can become an important player for the club. Bosz has already shown confidence in the left-sided attacker by selecting him for significant minutes at the start of the campaign, including a starting place in the Johan Cruyff Shield.

Despite interest from prominent clubs in France, Spain and Italy, Bouhamdi is therefore set to remain at PSV. The next stage of his development will involve balancing first-team football with appearances for Jong PSV as the club continues to introduce him gradually to senior competition.

The reported agreement represents a significant commitment from both player and club. PSV have identified Bouhamdi as one of the leading talents developed at De Herdgang, while the teenager has chosen to continue his progression in Eindhoven rather than take up the opportunity to join one of Europe’s most established sides.
