Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s Juventus Return Rumors Denied by Former Coach
Despite being one of Paris Saint-Germain’s most iconic players, Zlatan Ibrahimovic has not escaped the summer transfer speculation swirling around Europe’s top clubs. Recently, rumors emerged suggesting the Swedish striker might be eyeing a return to Juventus, igniting intense media interest. However, Ibrahimovic’s former coach at Malmö, Stefan Hansson, has stepped forward to clarify and temper expectations.
In an interview with Italian newspaper Tuttosport, Hansson initially appeared to confirm Ibrahimovic’s desire to go back to Juventus. “We talked about the future and he told me he wanted to return to Juventus. If they (the Italian leaders) can’t now, he wants to play there in a year. And money won’t be a problem,” the Swedish coach was quoted saying.
Soon after, Hansson retracted this statement, attributing the story to a transcription error by the Italian media that “distorted the whole story.” Speaking to Swedish outlet SportExpressen, Hansson explained the misunderstanding: “He asked me if I had spoken with Zlatan, and I told him that it was many years ago. The next question was whether he would return to Juventus. I replied: ‘I have no idea, you can ask him yourself.’ He is now in Paris, and he has a good contract.”
This clarification suggests that Ibrahimovic’s future remains firmly anchored at PSG, where he is under contract and remains a key player for the club. The striker has become an integral figure in Paris, leading the attack and helping the team challenge for major trophies domestically and in Europe.
Ibrahimovic’s name frequently appears in transfer speculation given his high profile and previous success in Serie A with Juventus, Inter Milan, and AC Milan. Fans and media alike often wonder if a return to Italy could be on the cards, especially considering his past triumphs in Serie A. However, for now, the evidence points to the Swedish forward focusing on his current commitments with PSG.
The summer transfer window is notorious for rumors and speculation, and this latest saga involving Ibrahimovic underscores how easily reports can be exaggerated or misinterpreted. With the Swedish striker’s former coach himself stepping in to correct the narrative, it appears that PSG supporters can breathe a sigh of relief—Zlatan is not set to leave the French capital just yet.
As the season progresses, all eyes will remain on Ibrahimovic and PSG’s ambitions in Ligue 1 and the UEFA Champions League. Whether the striker’s future in Paris continues long-term or if Juventus or another club could tempt him later down the line remains an open question. For now, however, the talk of a Juventus return seems little more than media fiction.
