Paris Saint-Germain are monitoring RC Strasbourg midfielder Samir El Mourabet, whose breakthrough in France has attracted interest from several major European clubs.
The 20-year-old Morocco international is under contract with Strasbourg until June 2030, giving the club a strong negotiating position should he leave in a future transfer window. His rapid development could allow the Alsatian side to secure a major fee.
El Mourabet, who came through Strasbourg’s academy, established himself in the first team last season under manager Gary O’Neil. He gradually earned the coach’s trust and became a regular member of the squad.
The midfielder started 25 Ligue 1 matches and also played a significant role in Strasbourg’s European campaign. Their run in the Conference League ended in the semi-finals against Rayo Vallecano, but El Mourabet’s performances further enhanced his reputation and market value.
He has continued to progress during the 2026/27 season, making two starts in Strasbourg’s opening four league games. That involvement underlines his importance to the club’s sporting plans.
Rising value and European interest
El Mourabet’s growing influence has been reflected in his estimated transfer value. It stood at 2 million euros in October 2025 before rising to 22 million euros by June 2026.
His appearance at the 2026 World Cup with Morocco’s Atlas Lions also increased his profile beyond the French domestic game. International exposure has helped make him a target for clubs across Europe.
According to specialist account PSGInside-Actus, Paris Saint-Germain believe the midfielder’s technical qualities could suit the characteristics Luis Enrique wants in his system. PSG sporting adviser Luis Campos is also said to be following the player.
The Paris club have the advantage of being able to assess El Mourabet regularly because Strasbourg compete in Ligue 1. However, PSG face competition for his signature.
Juventus Turin, Villarreal and RB Leipzig all expressed interest during the previous summer transfer window, according to information previously reported by Africafoot. If several clubs make formal approaches, that competition could push Strasbourg’s asking price higher.
Possible move in summer 2027
A transfer to Paris is not considered the most likely immediate outcome. Luis Enrique already has several midfield options in the PSG squad, which could make it difficult for El Mourabet to secure a regular starting place straight away.
The player’s situation could therefore become more significant during the summer of 2027, allowing PSG additional time to continue monitoring his progress before deciding whether to invest.
BlueCo, the owner of both Chelsea and Strasbourg, has also been involved in determining the midfielder’s future. That position could change if a sufficiently substantial offer arrives.
Strasbourg must now balance the financial value of a player developed through their academy with their sporting ambitions. PSG, meanwhile, will be keen not to overlook an emerging talent already gaining experience in Ligue 1.
Strasbourg will face Paris Saint-Germain in the seventh round of the French championship shortly. The listed prices for the match are 6.25 for a Strasbourg victory, 5.60 for a draw and 1.38 for a PSG win.
