PSG show interest in Werder defender Karim Coulibaly

Paris Saint-Germain have reportedly added young centre-back Karim Coulibaly to their list of summer targets, as speculation grows around a possible departure from Werder Bremen at the end of the season.

According to DeichStube, the French champions have been following the 18-year-old closely and have already watched him several times.

The report adds that initial contact has been made with the player’s camp, although formal talks with Werder are yet to begin and no official offer has been submitted. Even so, a transfer in the summer is considered likely, with Coulibaly and Bremen understood to be open in principle to the next step in his career, while clubs from England and Spain are also credited with interest.

For Werder, any deal could be extremely lucrative. With no release clause in Coulibaly’s contract, the fee would be fully negotiable, and figures between 40 and 50 million euros are currently being discussed.

His market value is estimated at 22 million euros by Transfermarkt, underlining how highly the defender is rated after breaking through and delivering a promising first full Bundesliga season.
