PSG rest Achraf Hakimi ahead of Ligue 1 clash with Lorient

Paris Saint-Germain will rest Moroccan full-back Achraf Hakimi for Wednesday’s Ligue 1 match against Lorient following his outstanding display in the 3-0 victory at Brest on Saturday, October 25.

The club’s sporting management and technical staff reached the decision together to give Hakimi a short break after his demanding recent schedule.

The defender will resume training on Thursday, just two days before PSG’s next major fixture against Nice at the Parc des Princes.

Hakimi has been one of PSG’s most consistent performers this season.

His energy, speed, and creativity from the right flank have made him an indispensable part of Luis Enrique’s system.

His powerful display against Brest, where he dominated both in defence and attack, once again underlined his importance to the team.

Since the start of the campaign, Hakimi has featured in twelve matches for PSG — eight in Ligue 1, three in the UEFA Champions League, and one in the French Super Cup against Tottenham.

He has also represented Morocco in three international fixtures with the Atlas Lions.

This busy calendar prompted the club to prioritize his recovery ahead of a crucial stretch of matches. PSG’s medical and coaching departments agreed that a short rest would allow him to maintain peak fitness and avoid fatigue-related injuries as the season progresses.

Hakimi’s absence will give other players an opportunity to step up in the midweek encounter at Lorient. However, his expected return against Nice will strengthen PSG’s defence for what promises to be a tough contest at home.

The decision highlights PSG’s commitment to managing player workloads efficiently as they continue to compete on multiple fronts both domestically and in Europe.
