Paris Saint-Germain coach Luis Enrique has confirmed the availability of Morocco international Achraf Hakimi ahead of the high-stake Champions League clash against Newcastle United.
The defending champions takes on the Premier League club at the Parc des Princes in the final round of the group stage on Wednesday night, with victory crucial to securing automatic qualification to the knockout stage.
At the pre-match conference, Enrique disclosed Hakimi participated fully in recent training sessions and that his condition is not a cause for concern.
“Achraf has trained with the team for the last three sessions. It’s not so much an injury as it is a physical or mental issue, as every player’s recovery is unique.”
The PSG coach added that the Moroccan right-back is in good shape and that the coaching staff will make a final decision on his availability before the match. He stated: “He’s in very good shape. We’ll see on Wednesday, but I think he’ll be available to play.”
Achraf Hakimi is a key player for Paris Saint-Germain, given his significant contributions both defensively and offensively. The Parisian club is counting on his European experience to secure a positive result against Newcastle and advance to the next round of the Champions League.
Hakimi had been sidelined since last November with an ankle injury before returning to action with the Moroccan national team at the Africa Cup of Nations.
