PSG Eye Romelu Lukaku and Memphis Depay as Potential Replacements for Cavani
As Edinson Cavani’s departure from Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) at the end of the season seems increasingly likely, the club’s management is already plotting his replacement, with two high-profile names reportedly on their radar: Romelu Lukaku and Memphis Depay.
According to The Sunday People, PSG have set their sights on Lukaku, the Belgian striker who has been in stellar form for Manchester United. The move could be facilitated by Lukaku’s new agent, Mino Raiola, who also represents several PSG stars, including Zlatan Ibrahimović, Blaise Matuidi, and Gregory van der Wiel. Raiola’s strong influence in the world of football transfers could prove crucial in brokering a deal, making Lukaku’s potential move to Paris more likely as the club seeks a powerful and proven goal-scorer to replace Cavani.
In addition to Lukaku, PSG are also reportedly interested in securing the services of Dutch forward Memphis Depay. The 25-year-old, currently at Lyon, has impressed in Ligue 1 and has attracted attention from several top European clubs. Marcel Brands, the sporting director of PSV Eindhoven, revealed on Fox Sports Netherlands that PSG are closely monitoring Depay’s situation. However, PSG will need to dig deep into their pockets, with Lyon reportedly demanding a transfer fee of no less than €20 million for the former Manchester United forward.
Cavani’s exit would mark the end of a significant era at PSG, as the Uruguayan striker has been a key figure in the club’s attacking line for several years. His potential departure leaves a significant gap to fill, and with Lukaku and Depay both possessing the skills and experience to thrive in the French capital, PSG will be hoping to secure a top-class replacement in the upcoming transfer window.
As the season progresses, all eyes will be on PSG’s transfer activity, with Cavani’s exit paving the way for what could be a major reshaping of their attacking options.
