As reported by Africa Top Sports.com, PSG enjoyed a successful week with another victory following their earlier win against Valenciennes. In a match against Toulouse in the French Ligue 1 at Parc des Princes, PSG secured a 2-0 win.
The opening goal came in the 41st minute when Brazilian defender Marquinhos capitalized on a free kick obtained by Ménez. Following an avoidable foul by Aguilar, Marquinhos found himself against Ahamada at close range. Yago inadvertently redirected the ball back to Marquinhos, who scored into the empty goal.
In the 79th minute, E. Cavani sealed PSG’s victory with a penalty kick.
With this win, PSG temporarily reclaimed the top spot in the French Ligue 1, having accumulated 18 points. Monaco, with 17 points, stands in second place, while Marseille, victorious against Lorient with a 2-0 scoreline, also has 17 points.
Laurent Blanc, the PSG coach, expressed his satisfaction with the team’s performance. He emphasized the goal of securing three points in each match and praised the freshness that the players brought to the game. Blanc highlighted the strategic rotation of players to allow those who have exerted themselves to rest.
Regarding the absence of Pastore, Blanc clarified that it was not a deliberate decision to exclude him from the squad. Pastore had felt pain in his thigh on Friday, and the team opted for caution, preferring to have fully fit players on the bench.
Blanc concluded by acknowledging the team’s impressive 18 points in 8 matches but noted the need for improvement in converting the numerous chances created, especially at home, to provide a more spectacular display.
