Ibrahim Maza on the radar of PSG

Paris Saint-Germain have reportedly identified Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Ibrahim Maza as a potential January transfer target as they assess their options following Khvicha Kvaratskhelia’s serious knee injury.

The French champions are exploring the possibility of signing the highly rated Algerian international during the winter transfer window, with the 20-year-old emerging as a candidate to strengthen Luis Enrique’s attacking options.

According to reports, PSG have already communicated their interest in Maza to his representatives as they consider a possible move in January 2027.

However, no official bid has been confirmed, and there is no indication that negotiations between PSG and Leverkusen have begun.

Maza has enjoyed an encouraging start to the season, establishing himself as one of Leverkusen’s promising attacking talents following his arrival from Hertha Berlin in 2025.

The Berlin-born midfielder has recorded three goals and three assists in 10 appearances this season, with his creativity, technical ability and versatility attracting attention from some of Europe’s leading clubs.

His ability to operate in advanced midfield positions and contribute in attack has reportedly made him an attractive option for PSG as they consider how best to cope with Kvaratskhelia’s absence.

However, convincing Leverkusen to part ways with the youngster could prove difficult. The Bundesliga club are determined to retain Maza, whose current contract runs until June 2030.

Leverkusen are reportedly working towards extending his deal further while offering him a significant salary increase in an attempt to ward off interest from potential suitors.

Discussions over improved terms are understood to be ongoing, although an immediate agreement is not expected. Manchester City were also reportedly interested in the Algerian last summer, highlighting his growing reputation in European football.

Despite PSG’s interest, head coach Luis Enrique has previously stressed that injuries do not automatically mean the club must enter the transfer market for replacements, although he has left the door open to potential opportunities.

Maza’s future could therefore become one to watch ahead of the January window, with PSG weighing up their options and Leverkusen keen to keep hold of one of their most promising young players.
