PSG drop Yan Diomande pursuit

Paris Saint-Germain have stepped out of the race for Yan Diomande after deciding the deal carried too many risks.

The Ivorian winger’s rise at RB Leipzig made him a major target this summer, but the French club no longer wants to continue.

Luis Campos reportedly had strong doubts about the operation, especially after Diomande’s camp asked for 20 million euros in signing bonuses and commissions. That figure, combined with a web of agents, contracts and legal issues, pushed PSG to move on. The club wanted a new winger to prepare for the possible departure of Bradley Barcola, yet the uncertainty around Diomandé’s situation became too much.

The 19-year-old impressed last season with Leipzig, posting 13 goals and 10 assists in 36 matches, and earning a place in Cote d’Ivoire’s World Cup 2026 squad. Even so, PSG are now turning toward Mika Godts of Ajax, who has already said yes to the Paris project.

Diomande’s early professional career began when he signed his first professional contract with Spanish La Liga side CD Leganes on 27 November 2024, officially joining the club in January 2025.

He made his professional debut on 29 March 2025 in a La Liga match away at Real Madrid, coming on as a substitute. During his time at Leganes, Diomande appeared in several matches, scoring his first professional goal on 11 May 2025.

Real Madrid remain the leading contenders for Diomande, with other major clubs also keeping watch. For PSG, the decision is simple: avoid a complicated transfer and focus on a cleaner target.
