Edinson Cavani Reflects on Season at PSG and World Cup Preparations
Since joining Paris Saint-Germain last summer, Edinson Cavani has faced challenges living up to the high expectations that accompanied his arrival. Often deployed on the right wing due to the presence of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, the Uruguayan striker nonetheless delivered a respectable return, netting 16 goals in Ligue 1 and adding four more in the Champions League.
Reflecting on his first season in the French capital, Cavani remained upbeat, focusing on the positives.
“How did my season at PSG go? It’s very good,” he said. “We’ve won three titles out of a possible four, we’ve played a lot of matches, and I’ve played most of them, except for a physical problem. Almost everything is positive, except for the injury. It’s a fantastic experience. I’m happy. I hope it continues like this.”
With the 2014 World Cup approaching, Cavani said he arrived with renewed energy and focus for his national team duties.
“I always have the pressure, whether it’s with PSG or Uruguay,” he explained. “I’m very demanding of myself. I’ve always accepted sacrifices. Sacrifice is part of me whether I’m playing in attack or elsewhere on the pitch. I joined the national team with my batteries recharged.”
As Uruguay prepares for the global tournament in Brazil, Cavani’s determination to contribute fully will be crucial to the team’s ambitions. His adaptability and work ethic have already earned him respect at PSG, and the striker will be eager to make a significant impact on the World Cup stage.
