Promise Meliga Jr: Nigerian winger joins KFUM Oslo after Valerenga exit

Nigerian winger Promise Meliga Jr, 19, has joined KFUM Oslo from Valerenga in a €200,000 move that keeps him in Norway’s Eliteserien.

Meliga has signed a contract with KFUM Oslo running until 31 December 2030. The left-footed right winger made nine Eliteserien appearances for Valerenga in 2026, scoring three goals, before completing his switch on 2 September.

His contribution came despite limited involvement in the starting line-up, with Meliga listed as a substitute starter in the majority of his league appearances. He also scored three goals in two matches in Norsk Tipping-Ligaen avdeling 1 this season and featured once in the NM-Cup.

Meliga joined Valerenga from Remo Stars Youth Academy in August 2025, beginning his senior football in Norway after coming through the Nigerian club’s youth system. He spent part of the 2025-26 season on loan at Kristiansund BK, joining the club in March before returning to Valerenga in July.

The winger’s move to KFUM Oslo is his third club change in Norway in 18 months. He initially moved to Kristiansund on loan from Valerenga, then returned to his parent club before transferring across the Eliteserien to KFUM Oslo.

Meliga also played for Remo Stars’ youth side during the 2023-24 season, when he won the Viareggio tournament. His record in Norway this year includes six league goals across the Eliteserien and Norsk Tipping-Ligaen, alongside an appearance in the domestic cup.

He joins KFUM Oslo with a market value of €700,000 and will remain under contract at the club until the end of 2030. Meliga’s transfer from Valerenga to KFUM Oslo was completed for €200,000 on 2 September 2026.
