Prince Kwabena Adu’s goal secures Viktoria Plzen’s dominant win over Anderlecht
Viktoria Plzen triumphed 2-0 over Anderlecht in a commanding Europa League performance at the Doosan Aréna on Thursday, with Ghanaian striker Prince Kwabena Adu making a decisive contribution.
The match kicked off with an early strike from Lukáš Cerv in the 3rd minute, who fired a stunning right-footed shot from outside the box, assisted by Matej Vydra. Despite a penalty save by Viktoria Plzen’s Pavel Sulc in the 11th minute, the hosts doubled their lead just before the break. Adu found the back of the net in the 45th minute, calmly slotting home a left-footed shot to the bottom left corner following a quick counter-attack and a pinpoint header from Vydra.
With a solid 70% possession, Anderlecht struggled to break down Viktoria Plzen’s defense, while the hosts’ clinical finishing secured a comfortable victory.
Adu, who played for 88 minutes, will be pleased with his performance as Viktoria Plzen now shifts focus to their upcoming Europa League clash against Athletic Bilbao on January 30th.
