Zimbabwean striker Prince Dube is on the brink of joining Young Africans Sports Club (Yanga), the reigning champions of the Tanzanian Premier League, after securing his departure from Azam FC.
Dube’s exit from Azam FC comes after the player actively sought to leave the club despite having two years remaining on his contract.
Reports indicate that Dube requested a release in May, leading to a financial settlement between the player and Azam FC.
The agreement saw Dube part ways with the club for a compromise fee of $150,000.
Dube is set to sign a three-year contract with Young Africans SC.
A source close to the Tanzanian champions confirmed the move, stating: “Young Africans has paid the remainder of his (Dube’s) contract at Azam FC and he will join the team.
All terms have been agreed with the player and he is excited to join the project.”
Dube’s impressive record at Azam FC has made him one of the most sought-after strikers in the region.
Over three seasons, he scored 47 goals in 59 domestic matches, showcasing his prowess and consistency on the field.
Dube is expected to play a pivotal role in Yanga’s ambition to establish themselves as a dominant force in African football.
Last season, Yanga reached the quarter-finals of the CAF Champions League before being eliminated by South African side Mamelodi Sundowns.
Dube’s arrival is anticipated to bolster their attacking options and enhance their performance in continental competitions.
At 27, Dube brings a wealth of experience to Yanga. He has had multiple stints with Zimbabwe Highlanders, Supersport United, and Black Leopards in South Africa’s Premier and Second Division leagues.
His versatility and goal-scoring ability have been evident throughout his career.
On the international stage, Dube debuted for Zimbabwe’s senior national team, The Warriors, in 2017.
Since then, he has earned 15 caps, contributing significantly to the national squad.
Dube’s move to Young Africans SC marks a new chapter in his career.
With a strong track record and an eagerness to contribute to his new team’s success, he is poised to become a key figure in Yanga’s quest for further glory in the Tanzanian Premier League and beyond.
The transfer underscores Young Africans SC’s commitment to strengthening their squad with top-tier talent as they aim to achieve sustained success and make a significant impact in African football.
As Dube prepares to don the Yanga jersey, fans and pundits alike will be watching closely to see how his skills and experience will influence the team’s fortunes in the upcoming season.
