Prince Aning: Dutch-Ghanaian left-back joins Telstar on free transfer

Dutch-Ghanaian defender Prince Aning has joined Telstar on a free transfer from Borussia Dortmund II, signing a contract with the Dutch club until 30 June 2028.

The 22-year-old left-back returns to the Netherlands after four years in Germany, where he featured across Dortmund’s youth and second-team set-up. His move also coincides with a step into Eredivisie football for Telstar, who have secured the Amsterdam-born player on a long-term deal.

Aning, a left-footer standing at 1.76m, arrives with experience in both senior and youth competitions. He made 31 appearances in Germany’s 3. Liga for Dortmund’s reserve side, contributing one assist, and previously featured in the UEFA Youth League, where he added another assist across a dozen games.

Before his time in Germany, Aning came through Ajax’s renowned academy system. He progressed from Ajax’s youth ranks into their U17 and U18 teams, earning minutes in domestic youth leagues and cup competitions before Dortmund paid a reported €310,000 to take him to the Bundesliga club’s second team in 2022.

Born in Amsterdam and eligible for both the Netherlands and Ghana, Aning strengthens Telstar’s options on the left side of defence as they build for the coming seasons. His current market valuation is listed at €175,000, with Telstar securing his services without a transfer fee.

Aning’s move from Borussia Dortmund II to Telstar is a permanent free transfer, with his contract running until the summer of 2028.
