Pressure mounts as Wydad members call for club president’s resignation
Tensions continue to rise at Wydad Athletic Club as a section of the club’s members publicly demand the immediate resignation of president Hicham Ait Manna, accusing him of failing to deliver on key promises and falling short of expectations.
In a strongly worded statement, the members claimed that Ait Manna had “manipulated” the widely expressed demand from supporters calling for him to step aside. They insisted that resignation remains the only acceptable course of action, warning that should he refuse, they are prepared to initiate procedures within the club’s legal framework to force his removal.
The statement also pointed to the president’s previous remarks, in which he suggested he was not personally attached to the role and had only taken it up to serve the interests of the club and its supporters. The members argued that those words should now translate into action.
“After failing to manage this stage and with the supporters united in their demand for your departure, you must take responsibility and withdraw without further maneuvers,” the statement read.
Attention has now shifted toward the future leadership of the club, with members calling on capable individuals to step forward and present viable plans. They urged potential candidates to outline clear, realistic programmes, cautioning against empty rhetoric and unfulfilled pledges.
“Wydad needs serious plans and men ready to carry responsibility,” they said, highlighting the importance of transparency and decisive leadership at this critical moment.
The statement concluded with a firm reminder that the club’s legacy outweighs any individual ambitions, stressing the need for accountability and honesty moving forward.
“Whoever wants to serve the club must do so openly. Whoever cannot should leave space for others. History will judge, and accountability will separate the loyal from the reckless,” the members further said.
This latest development reflects growing unrest among the fan base, with frustrations deepening over recent performances and ongoing concerns surrounding the club’s management.
