Presnel Kimpembe’s frustrating campaign has come to an early end after the Paris Saint-Germain defender suffered a bone edema in his right foot.
The club confirmed the injury on Friday, dealing another blow to the Frenchman’s efforts to regain form.
Kimpembe has featured in just five matches this season, spending only 76 minutes on the pitch. Hopes of a strong return were dashed once again, with French outlet L’Équipe reporting that he is unlikely to play again before the season concludes.
The World Cup winner has faced recurring injury setbacks over the past year, and this latest issue means he’ll now shift focus to being fully fit for the summer. PSG is counting on his presence for the FIFA Club World Cup, scheduled to take place from June 14 to July 13.
Kimpembe’s leadership and presence at the back have been missed, and both the player and the club will be hoping for a fresh start in the upcoming campaign.
