After nearly two years on the sidelines, Presnel Kimpembe is set to make his much-awaited return to the pitch for Paris Saint-Germain.
The 29-year-old defender has been sidelined since suffering an Achilles injury in February 2023. Despite multiple surgeries and a challenging recovery process, PSG manager Luis Enrique confirmed that Kimpembe is now “ready” to contribute once again.
The road to recovery for Kimpembe has been long and frustrating. After the initial surgery, he had to undergo another operation due to ongoing pain in his Achilles, preventing him from returning to action as expected. The center-back’s frustration grew as he was included in PSG’s matchday squad in November 2024, only to vanish from the team once more.
Ahead of PSG’s Coupe de France clash with Espaly, Enrique provided an encouraging update. “After speaking with Presnel, I think he feels a lot better. Over the past months, he has been able to train with the group. He is ready to help the team,” Enrique said. Kimpembe’s participation in the match remains uncertain, but his return is a major boost for the squad.
