President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi visited the current training camp of the Egyptian national team at Egypt’s International City to provide support and encouragement to the players ahead of the 2024 Africa Cup of Nations.
Originally scheduled for last summer, the Africa Cup of Nations is now set to take place in January in Ivory Coast, featuring the participation of 24 continental teams.
Mohamed Salah, the captain of the Egyptian national team, expressed gratitude to the president, saying, “We thank Your Excellency for the support.
Minister Ashraf Sobhi always conveys your support to us and also the support of the Football Association.
There has been significant improvement in the entire system, and they always assist us in achieving our goals.”
Salah continued, “We assure Your Excellency that all players will exert their utmost effort to win the championship.
In the last edition, we were not fortunate despite doing everything we could.
I am pleased with the performance of the last tournament, and, God willing, we will do more in the upcoming edition.”
In response, the president stated, “God willing, you will return successful and triumphant.
You have a significant impact on all viewers, regardless of victory or defeat.
Our commitment and good behavior have a great influence inside and outside Egypt.”
He added, “You represent a beautiful image, so maintain this.
A dignified image that reflects Egypt’s civilization, and I wish you success.”
Roy Vitoria, the Portuguese coach leading Egypt’s national team, also expressed his gratitude for the president’s support, stating, “Thank you for the support you provide us.
Your presence with us gives us a positive impression.
We appreciate your kind words, and representing a country as great as Egypt is a significant responsibility.
We must show a positive image to all athletes in Egypt, and I trust that as players, we will give everything to make the fans happy.”
The first national team, under the guidance of coach Roy Vitoria, began its closed training camp on January 2nd in preparation for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations.
Egypt is in Group 2, alongside Ghana, Mozambique, and Cape Verde.
