PRESIDENT CUP 2014: NIGERIA BEATS MALI AS IN THE OPENING

In the last day of the group stages of the 2014 President Cup held on Wednesday in Lomé, Nigeria secured another victory over Mali with a 2-0 scoreline, replicating their success from the previous encounter between the two teams.

Grouped in Pool B, Nigeria and Mali faced each other again due to the last-minute withdrawal of Niger, which left the two remaining teams to determine their final standings. Nigeria, under the guidance of coach Emmanuel Amunike, demonstrated a dynamic and disciplined performance throughout the match. After a goalless first half, Nigeria intensified their attacks in the second half, resulting in goals from Orji Okonkwo and Kehinde Ayinde.

With this win, Nigeria topped Group B with 6 points, while Mali finished without any points.
