Benin emerged victorious in the inaugural edition of the President Cup on Sunday, securing a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Mali after extra time. The Squirrels’ triumph was largely attributed to the stellar performance of striker Aaron Ibilola, who netted three goals throughout the tournament, securing the top scorer title. Ibilola’s exploits saw him surpass Nigerian duo Kehinde Ayinde and Orji Okonkwo, who each scored two goals.
Meanwhile, the prestigious best player award was bestowed upon Malian midfielder Mohamed Haidara, who dazzled spectators and analysts alike with his commanding presence in midfield and impeccable technical abilities.
