Zakaria El Ouahdi could leave KRC Genk next summer

Three English Premier League clubs are lining up moves for Zakaria El Ouahdi ahead of the upcoming summer transfer window, as interest in the highly rated full-back continues to grow.

According to Moroccan outlet Al-Botola, Brentford FC have already made a concrete move for the 24-year-old, identifying him as a top priority to strengthen their right flank.

Interest in the player has also intensified from Crystal Palace FC, who are reportedly considering him as a potential replacement should their current right-back Daniel Muñoz depart in the summer. Palace scouts have been closely monitoring El Ouahdi’s performances in recent matches for KRC Genk.

Meanwhile, Everton FC are also weighing up a move as they look to add a physically strong option at right-back, potentially setting up a three-way battle for the Moroccan defender’s signature.

Genk, however, remain in a strong negotiating position. The Belgian side secured El Ouahdi on a long-term deal in September 2024, tying him down until June 2028, which gives the club significant leverage in any transfer discussions.

Reports suggest Genk are unwilling to entertain offers below €25 million, with the total fee potentially rising to €30 million when performance-related add-ons are included.

Brentford have already tabled an opening bid worth €15 million plus €6 million in bonuses, and have held preliminary talks with the player’s representatives, including a proposed weekly salary of up to £45,000.
